MUST VISIT PLACES IN NAINITAL !



 Thrilled by the beauty of  NAINITAL  , you are planning a trip to the 

" The Lake District of India" and need a list of places so that you can plan your itinerary then you hit the right spot .

Most of the places listed here are at a distance of 2-5 km (except few) and a 2-3 days trip to Nainital would be sufficient enough to visit all these places. 

And here the list starts ,

1. NAINI LAKE


A boat ride while enjoying the beauty of the city and watching the lofty mountains surrounding the city is an absolute not to miss out . Naini lake is just few meters distance from the Nainital bus stand. It's easy to get a boat ride which could cost upto INR 210 for complete tour of the lake .
Just beside the lake a road locally known as Thandi sarak could offer you a pleasant stroll so try not to miss it out.



 







    2. NAINA DEVI TEMPLE                                                                                              


  It is located adjacent to the, lake in the center of the city . It is a famous shakti peeth  and represented by two eyes . Just next to the temple one can find Gurudwara shri singh sabha , Jama Masjid and the oldest Methodist church . It is very pleasant to see the "Unity in diversity " and co-existence for years .


             


   3. ECO CAVE GARDEN  

A cluster of natural looking cave which are indeed artificial along with hanging garden is a tourist attraction. It is located in Surkhatal which is 3km away from the Bus stand . It would be a fun and adventorous experience of animal life in cave .   



           4. MALL  ROAD                      

              

    Mall road ,it runs parallel to Naini lake and length around 1.5 km. It connects Tallital and Mallital . Numerous shop of souvenir and food items are the main attractions . In the evening with the streets lights on it beautiful to walk along the Mall road.






5. HIMALAYAN VIEW POINT


Located at 2300m height and at a distance of 5 km from the main city, it offers views of the Himalayan mountains.
One can see the mountains through the Telescope there. You enjoy tea ,snacks and the view there with a peace.




         6 .LOVER'S POINT               

 As the name says Lover's point ,one can surely guess it is a place to fall in love . It is 3km from Bus stand and 1.5 km from Eco cave garden . It is beautiful to see the city from that height and mountain surrounded it. One can get horse ride to reach the higher points like Naina peak and Tiffin top.





         7.GB PANTH HIGH                  ALTITUDE ZOO      


It is a high altitude zoo,one of the most seen places in Nainital . It is placed in Sher-ka-danda hill . Many endangered species are found besides several mammals like Himlayan bear, Tibetan wolf, Leopard, Royal bengal tiger,Sambar , barking dog ,Ghoral . It is 2km away from the bus stand . Ticket costs INR 100 for adult indian and INR 50 for child ,incase of foreigners INR 100 for child and INR 200 for adult.




     


  8. RAJ BHAVAN ,NAINITAL



The second Raj bhavan of Uttarakhand Governor is located in Nainital . It served during the summer retreat of the Governor of Uttarakhand. Nainital served as the second capital of United province . It is built like a scotish castle and famous movies are also shot here. 






       9. SNOW VIEW POINT             

It is 3 km from the Bus stand.   One can reach here by normal vehicle or even can go up cable car(gondola ride). From here the snow capped top of the mountains like Nanda Devi , Nanda kot and Trishul .




        10. NAINA PEAK             
    It is the highest hill top and one of the famous tourist spot. Locally called China peak  or cheena peak . Due to lush green forest path Naina peak is favourite place in Nainital for trekking . This place offers a bird eye's of  view Nainital city , the lake and kumaon region . 




      11. TIFFIN TOP 


      It is also known as Dorothy's seat . It's at an elevation of 2292 mts from sea level .It is a famous picnic spot . It's not possible to reach the top by vehicles horse ride(ponies ) are available which would take you to the top . It is a beautiful experience to travel through the greens . 

Horse ride could cost 500-700 INR per person.






       12. KAINCHI DHAM TEMPLE 


It is a Hanuman temple , established by Saint Neem karoli Baba in 1960s. Located between 2 hills that cut and cross each other to create a shape of scissor so it is called Kainchi Dham temple . It is 38km away from Nainital but it natural green vegetation , peaceful and spiritual experience makes it a must visit . This fame place was visited  even by Steeve Jobs(Apple founder) in 1970s and Mark Zukerberg (Facebook founder) in 2008.
