Overthinking, peace and pace breaker
Has it ever happened to you while in school, on Sunday night you realised that there is a class test and you are not prepared yet . You are really scared of the exam , you think you are going to fail in the exam. Your teacher will insult you in the class and might complaint to your parents. I am sure you might have found yourself in similar situations . I have faced similar situations many times in school , in college and in day to day life.
If we see carefully the pattern of my thoughts there , one can clearly say i was overthinking. I was thinking about the things probably which were not going to happen. As the next day teacher was absent , i got my chance to study and i scored well in the exam.
Overthinking is a vicious cycle. You will get into some repetitive and unproductive thoughts , these thoughts are mostly negative and future oriented . Overthinking causes self doubt, makes you feel underconfident , feel stress, anxiety and gradually depression.
Overthinking is a pattern of thoughts that we make as our habit . One would not disagree ıf i say overthinking is a symptoms to serious mental condition like anxiety and depression.
Some people may say that overthinking is good as you focus on thing and think about them deeply but it is not so . It is not going to give any creative solutions rather , it is ruining.
Albert Einstein said it rightly " we can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them."
Overthinking breaks the mental peace and harmony and your pace to work, undoubtedly focus get a back seat.
Overthinking can be kept under control , it needs few habits and tricks to follow and those are here ,
1 . To take a notice of your thoughts , try to find out what triggers you .
2 . Challenge your thoughts .
3 . Simplify your thoughts probably by writing them out and getting into a conclusion.
4 . Meditation and Yoga work their best .
5 . Learning some skills which requires a mental input.
6 . Don't provide your brain that space to develop loop of thoughts , keep yourself engaged with work, with people anything that suits you .
7 . Try to live in present by making now a best time to live in .
8 . And this is my favourite trick , exhaust your body that your brain get tired too . Do some high intensity work out , running to bring clarity.
Overthinking in itself isn't a mental illness , it is just a symptom . If not cured , can lead for bigger problems like stress , anxiety and depression . So anyone can visit a psychologist whenever required without neglecting their mental health.
